The CRS Angola program is driven by the core principles of Catholic Social Teaching, which is based on the fundamental respect of human life and dignity. CRS Angola's programs are designed to respond to the immediate and long-term needs of resettling and resident communities to improve their health and food security as a way of preserving their dignity and building a better future. CRS is supporting local church partners' peace and reconciliation initiatives and HIV and AIDS education and awareness projects.

CRS started working in Angola in 1989 when it provided food assistance to war and drought affected communities.
