Cameroon Villages Seek Cut of Forest Resources
In east Cameroon, the great expanse of equatorial forests is an important source of income for impoverished villages. But many who might benefit from logging don't know how to apply for the proper permits.
In nearly 25 Cameroonian communities, Catholic Relief Services has stepped in to help villagers gain access to logging concessions that would help pay for much-needed development projects such as schools, bridges, housing and health care facilities.
This video offers a window into how villagers in the Batouri district are coming together to take advantage of and properly manage their valuable natural resource.
