Croatia
Croatia has been working hard to recover from the destruction and population movements brought on by the war and the break-up of the former Yugoslavia. With generous support from many different donors [BPRM, DFID, Dutch Government, the World Bank, and U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID)], Catholic Relief Services is supporting Croatia's efforts by providing assistance to returning families, domiciled vulnerable families, and families — displaced from other areas — who are now residing in the communities of return. For example, with funding from the World Bank and from USAID, the agency is supporting the economic development of family farm businesses, and farmers' associations and cooperatives in order to advance the economic revitalization of communities beyond merely subsistence level farming and production.
