CRS Work in Lesotho
CRS is responding to the emergency in Lesotho by:
- Helping the LCBC HIV and AIDS Department to support HIV and AIDS affected households through support provided to the South African Catholic Bishops' Conference.
- Providing food assistance to 80,000 vulnerable people suffering from food insecurity.
- Supporting the development of church structures to distribute humanitarian aid in response to this and future disasters.
- Cooperating with the Lesotho Catholic Bishops' Conference Commission (LCBC) for Justice and Peace to promote human rights awareness, which has included monitoring both the recent elections and the equity with which emergency food rations are distributed.
