CRS in Moldova

CRS Partners in Moldova

The work of Catholic Relief Services is accomplished in partnership with an extensive network of Church and local organizations led by the people we serve. By working with partners, we can bring about real changes to systems and practices that contribute to poverty, hunger, injustice and conflict around the world.

Nongovernment Partners

Central Agricultural Market Information Bureau (CAMIB)

The Central Agricultural Market Information Bureau (CAMIB), a CRS key implementing partner, has for the last 10 years assisted regional nongovernmental organizations in organizing marketing and business plans for local businesses. CAMIB provided training and consulting services to regional nongovernmental organizations for the development of new jobs and businesses in textile manufacturing, home decorations and carpet making. CAMIB has worked with communities to improve their infrastructure. CRS partners with CAMIB on the Jobs Plus project, which creates thousands of new jobs and improves the quality of life for Moldovans living in rural villages.

Church Partners

Diocese of Chisinau

The Diocese of Chisinau represents the Catholic community in Moldova. The diocese has for many years maintained brotherly relations with the Orthodox Church of the Republic of Moldova and also participates with it in various cooperative ventures. CRS supports the Diocese of Chisinau by partnering on summer camps for Catholic youth, social centers for parishes, and activities to help parishioners learn new skills like languages, computers and the arts.

Caritas Moldova

Caritas Moldova is a member of Caritas Internationalis, a global Catholic confederation which provides humanitarian assistance. In Moldova, Caritas' work has focused on social and medical assistance, education, community development, emergencies, and organizational development. CRS partners with Caritas Moldova on the implementation of a Parish Social Ministry project, helping Catholics in Moldova to put their faith in action through projects that serve the poor and marginalized in their communities.

Government Partners

The Ministry of Economy and Commerce

The Ministry of Economy and Commerce supports the initiatives of CRS in Moldova through our common mission to reduce unemployment and provide viable economic opportunities for young people in Moldova. Regional representatives of the ministry play an active role in recruiting, registering and providing free-of-charge vocational training to young women looking for a job.

Moldovan Investment, Export and Promotion Organization (MIEPO)

The Moldovan Investment, Export and Promotion Organization (MIEPO) supports the development of business and business partnerships in Moldova. CRS works with MIEPO to identify Moldovan and international companies who would be interested in expanding their businesses to the rural areas of Moldova, bringing jobs to impoverished areas.

Business Partners

CRS Moldova works with nontraditional partners, including private businesses, to create jobs in rural villages where people might otherwise seek to work abroad, making them vulnerable to schemes such as trafficking. Businesses have been willing to relocate to rural areas, creating jobs where none existed before.

Tinama SRL

A garment manufacturer located in Tipala, a small village in central Moldova, Tinama is working with CRS to train and employ young rural women as seamstresses.

Floreana Fashion

A British garment manufacturer offering employment to more than 250 women in northern Moldova, Floreana Fashion has always kept an eye on the quality of its work conditions and has succeeded in establishing factories up to European standards, even in the remotest of rural locations in Moldova.

I.M. "Infinity Inc" SRL

The largest garment manufacturer in the north of Moldova, Infinity is a natural partner for CRS due to their commitment to caring for their employees, and especially for the needs of young women. Infinity partnered with CRS to provide vulnerable women with training and jobs at its Balti factory and continues to offer these opportunities to hundreds of women from Moldova.
