Security and Peacebuilding
In 2000, Catholic Relief Services engaged in advocacy to support a cessation of hostilities in Sierra Leone, where CRS has a long history of involvement. This type of advocacy focuses on the international dimension of security, often characterized by military actions.
Many traditional development programs address issues of food and shelter security, and are linked to a notion of personal security. Linking personal security with advocacy at the international level can more effectively create the conditions for long-term peace and stability.
