CRS in Tanzania

CRS Partners in Tanzania

Catholic Relief Services works with a wide variety of partners to implement our projects across Tanzania. These partners include Catholic Church development offices, local community-based organizations, government bodies and national agriculture research institutions.

Tanzanian Episcopal Conference

CRS relies on the extensive network of the Catholic Church in Tanzania to implement development programs countrywide. CRS Tanzania partners with the development offices of four archdioceses and six dioceses to deliver HIV and AIDS, agro-enterprise, and microfinance services in targeted regions.

AIDSRelief Treatment Facilities

The CRS-led AIDSRelief consortium provides HIV care and treatment to more than 50,500 patients in 31 government and faith-based health facilities located throughout Tanzania. At both the regional and district levels, these AIDSRelief partners are widely recognized for providing high-quality antiretroviral therapy, support to orphans and other vulnerable children, and home-based care that improves patient health and encourages community support. The AIDSRelief program also helps to strengthen communities by providing training in essential life skills, disease prevention and ways to live positively with HIV.

The Government of Tanzania

CRS Tanzania works closely with the Tanzanian government to sustain our programs, maximize resources and ensure collaboration with other government initiatives. CRS’ HIV strategies complement those of the National AIDS Control Plan. CRS also coordinates with government hospitals and district councils to ensure the best support possible is provided to orphans and vulnerable children. In addition, CRS collaborates with a number of national research institutions and local government bodies to maximize the impact of our agro-enterprise initiatives.

Community-Based Agricultural Organizations

CRS Tanzania works closely with community-based agricultural partners to provide technical and marketing assistance to poor farmers. Initiatives aim to maximize yields, generate more income and reduce the impact of crop diseases. These partners include Kikangonet, Kimkumaka, Lake Zone Agriculture Research and Development Institute, Maruku Agricultural Research & Development Institute, Mogabiri Farm Extension Center, Mwanza Rural Housing Program, and Tanzania Home Economic Association.
